Revenue Retriever uses rules to identify when items are missed from customer bills and to prompt staff to correct these omissions in real time. If you already know where the issues are within your organisation, you can create your own rules manually, but there are often more insights to be gained from using the smart rules which Revenue Retriever generates from its own analysis of your billing data.
Revenue Retriever proposes a number of smart rules for you to review. The more rules you review and accept, the more missed billing you will be able to identify and recover.
Viewing the proposed smart rules
- Log in to the Revenue Retriever website.
- Click on the Smart Rules button.
You will see an initial list of smart rules. Each rule includes the following information:
- How many invoices this rule applied to.
- How many of those invoices had missing items.
- A brief description of what will trigger the rule and what missing items it will check for.
- The total revenue lost according to this rule, over the review period.
Please note, this is only for comparing rules, not a definitive figure.
Improve proposed smart rules by excluding irrelevant products
Some products and services, particularly items which can be sold on their own such as pet food, have little value for predicting missed billing.
To help Revenue Retriever propose a shorter list of smart rules for your to review, we recommend that you flag-up some or all of the products and services which are in your Provet Cloud system but which it should ignore when working out its own smart rules.
Click the Single Products button and follow the instructions in this article: How to exclude single products.
Filtering and sorting the proposed rules
You do not need to review and accept all of the proposed smart rules. It is best to start with those rules which identify the most common or costly mis-billing issues. You can come back and add other rules later.
Your intuition and professional veterinary experience are valuable as you sort through the rules. Use the different sorting and filtering options to help you find the most impactful smart rules to check and apply. For example:
- Lost Revenue - Start with the rules that could save you the most revenue.
- Popularity - Look at rules which match the largest number of invoices.
- Confidence - Focus in on the rules which are most likely to be valid. This is particularly useful in combination with the minimum value filter, below.
- Minimum Value - Only show rules which have identified a significant revenue loss.
Selecting and accepting rules
You do not have to review all of the proposed rules at once. Select those which are the highest priority so Revenue Retriever can start working with them. You can return and add more later if you need to.
- As you look at each proposed rule, click on those which you would like Revenue Retriever to apply. The rules you select will be highlighted with a green outline.
- When you have selected as many as you want, click on the Submit button to move to the next step.
Important: Once you have started selecting rules, do not change the filters or sort order, or your selection will be lost.
Next steps
All of your selected rules will be applied and activated.
Please refer to this article for an overview of the remaining setup steps.
